Daily Routine Help & Troubleshooting, ELI5, and Questions: April 06, 2015

Hi all!

I'm a total newbie to this - and skincare in general (beyond the bare minimum). I thought this thread was a good place to start! Part of my motivation is that I also have little makeup experience, but I want to start wearing it more regularly, and I want to make sure I know how to take care of my skin so that I don't lead it to any further breakouts or unhappiness.

For starters, I don't have nice skin at all, in my opinion. It's very oily, with occasional acne (and definitely hormonal acne). I also have large pores on my nose, and I'm worried that I'm getting large pores elsewhere. My skin feels sort of thick/loose - such that I fear I'll have some pretty deep wrinkles as I age, because frowning or furrowing my brows creates really deep lines already! I heard that oiliness means you need to moisturize more, not exfoliate. Is that true? I use oil-absorbing pads off-and-on, and it's not uncommon to need 2-3 to just wipe up my face to the point of not feeling (as) greasy.

I'm looking for a way to treat the oiliness of my skin and try to get my pores under control, at least for starters. Right now, I use CeraVe foaming facial cleaner (normal to oily skin) and Cetaphil oil control moisturizer. I have a lot of other Western products from Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Noxema, etc. centered on oily skin and/or acne, but many don't seem to do the trick.

I'm more than ready to get into a proper routine! I'm searching for basic products to help get that started. I have no experience with serums, emulsifiers, etc., but I'd be happy to learn.

Apologies for the long and "oh my gosh I have no idea what I'm doing please help" post, and thanks in advance!!
