Dan Harmon's Current Twitter Bio

Just as an aside, I spent a few months getting blackout drunk every single day as soon as I got home from work. From November of 2016 to April of 2017, I didn't spend a single day without drinking a substantial amount of alcohol. I'm talking a handle a week of shitty white rum, because I didn't want to waste money on something I wasn't even tasting. And I quit drinking entirely just over two months ago.

First few days were awful. My subconscious kept trying to talk myself into going to the liquor store, on the grounds that there was really no harm in a drink or two, and that I could control myself. But I just kept not going. I even took a different route home from work so I could avoid driving past any liquor stores to reduce the amount of temptation. By two weeks in, I was mostly free of the desire to drink. Now, I'm completely free of it.

So while I didn't want to get personal over a dumb internet argument, here we are.

And if we want to talk about genetics, my grandfather had liver cancer because of his alcoholism. And my father and all of my uncles on his side of the family are chronic drinkers. So I do know for a fact that it's entirely within your own control to quit drinking.
