Is Dan a "serious historian"? Author Thaddeus Russell praising Dan's podcast (from JRE#952)

This guy seems a bit up himself; kissing ass and bemoaning the "coastal elite liberal" with all of their immutable condescension. I can kind of get what he is saying, but it comes off as painfully insecure and snobby (which is exactly what he is angsty about).

Also, the JRE isn't some think tank of fresh ideas; it is just as much a circlejerk as any of that NPR shit. Some of the ideas the JRE subculture talks about are stupid, just like many of the liberal assumptions are narrow minded and smug.

It is so easy to forget how freaking huge this world is. People all over the bloody planet are being raised in self-righteous cultural bubbles, and most of these people are probably looking down their noses and their fellow cultural bubble-people from half a continent away. The liberal elite biosphere just happens to smack in the middle of the media hub of the western world.

I'm sure if you air-dropped a massive antenna in Saskatchewan or some shit, and tuned into their culture 24/7, you would be getting sick of their bullshit in no time.
