[Dan Sheldon & Laurie Whitwell] #MUFC intensify efforts to sign a new goalkeeper: Initially looking at a No 3 | United wanted to pay £35k a week in wages | Now searching for a No 2 | Budget up from £1m to around £7m | Ten Hag wants a GK to challenge De Gea w/ @lauriewhitwell

  • A debate is also to be had as to whether De Gea is able to play in a sweeper-keeper role, which is what Ten Hag wants.

A debate??

There’s no debate. De Gea cannot play that role properly. Any r/RedDevils user would’ve been able to tell you that. We’ve known since at least 2017. De Gea stops shots, that’s it. That’s his talent, that’s his quality. And the club pays him like £300,000 per week to do that. We had an academy goalkeeper at the club who most likely is the best English sweeper-keeper. He had a run of games at Man United and he was really good. He challenged De Gea. So we did the logical thing and never played him again, and just sent him on loan and now he basically hates the club, doesn’t want to play for us again and will most likely run down his contract and leave on a free.

What the fuck is going on at the club?
