exactly. i think i commented this on yt or meant to. i don't know how involved people think that adults are in their adult child's life especially when they move away for university. even if they are "living" with them for the summer, they are going to be pretty independent from their parents.

I have schizotypal disorder, it's pretty similar to schizoaffective. i can tell you that no one i know would be able to know i am having a mental health episode. a lot of it is internal and when it comes out it comes out in strange ways that aren't recognizable to family. or, like you said, if the person has always been a bit "wacky" or different it is hard to know what is thier personality and what is an episode or the beginning of an episode
