Does anyone know why they're selling FS 17 as a "new game"?

Yes. There wasn't much of coding effort put into the game. Most of the coding was put into the placeables, production, new screens, seasons, farm management, graphics engine integration, weather. A lot of the rest of the content is community content that they adopted and map and vehicle design (not coding related).

I wish they put a bit more development into the game and made an effort at better balance. I mean imagine how much more this game would be fun if for example there were snow rescue, tractor flipped, logging, produce transport contracts etc. Or if they just balanced the existing contracts...

Another thing about AI. They did add the ability to to hire someone to drive from point A to point B, but AI for field work is pretty broken compared to FS19 that was just "somewhat" broken.
