I don’t think criticizing a company is going to do anything

Nuance is something that many kpop fans struggle with. Idol=good, company=bad is just easier for most ppl. Companies are faceless entities, so they're an understandably easy scapegoat.

I agree that sometimes companies willing allow themselves to be portrayed as the bad guy so that the idol can look good. For example, I have no doubt there are situations in which an idol doesn't want to do something, but doesn't want to look difficult or not like a team player or whatever. So, the company will step in to say they won't allow it. That lets the idol still look willing, even if behind closed doors they're not.

Ultimately, companies are run by humans. Humans who are, for the most part, doing their best, andaking the decisions that they think are best. Just like in non-kpop spaces, there are bad actors with bad intentions, but that's not the majority of people. It's not hard to condemn the bad people while also giving the others the benefit of the doubt that they're trying their best.

Fans are too quick to see their faves as infallible heroes, and that any misfortune or disappointment that befalls them must be intentionally inflicted or at least grossly negligent.
