I was 6’0 by 9th grade and those years were tough. I never had dates, never was asked out, never went to any dances. Boys made fun of me or asked me out to say “just kidding!” It took me a long time to undo the damage.

Now I am 28, weigh even more than high school (who doesn’t) and I honestly think I’m pretty damn sexy and proportionate. I think it’s a social thing. Men (especially white men) are socialized to like women smaller than them and it’s a status thing. Plenty of guys will sleep with me or see me in private but not date me. I’ve had guy friends flat out tell me they aren’t attracted to me because I’m a big girl. As you get older, you find men who are willing to date what they like versus what society deems attractive. I like myself for my style, confidence, sense of humor, and guys like these things about me too.

Basically: everyone has a type. More people think you’re a sexy unicorn than you know.
