ELI5:Why did Nicola's Tesla theory of Clean Energy never got developed, did it lack scientific credibility?

Tesla built a free energy machine based on what most of his work was based on, resonance. But Rockefeller didn't want to give up the money he was making with standard oil for his energy production monopoly. So Rockefeller tarnished Tesla's image and made him out to be crazy. Which was easy to do with the already tarnished reputation Tesla had from the AC vs DC battle between edison and Tesla. Tesla lived a very minimal life after that. I believe Rockefeller's words to Tesla were "If I can't put a meter on it, it's useless?". And Presto, our species is enslaved to the energy industry for 100+ years. This will change soon as I've seen people re-creating Tesla's work online, it's only a matter of time. The truth is there are a lot of ways to make free energy, but you're ignorance in being told it's impossible by people who you look up to will hinder your mind's ability to rationalize that it is possible. I built one in 2006 and destroyed it in 2006 after being told by the person who I look up to the most in this world "don't follow paths that many have tried and failed", not to mention the few people I told about it looked at me like I was an alien. Moral of the story, Enjoy your enslavement you ignorant fools!!! Those of you who are talking about Tesla's energy transmission affecting electromagnetic signals and killing wildlife and such. That's not free energy, that's energy transmission from a possible free energy device, or a gas generator, I mean that tech is built into every cellphone that charges wirelessly today. That was Tesla's idea of how to transmit energy to people without the cost of a physical wire infrastructure, or how to cook birds mid-flight. In the end he killed a ton of wildlife on long island with energy transmission and the FBI tore down his big toy!
