ELI5: Please explain rules of Baseball to European person.

One team is trying to stop the other from running all three bases. One team is at bat, while in this position the only job for those team members is to, one at a time, try to hit the balls pitched at them and run bases. Each team members has three tries at hitting the ball, if they don't hit it in three pitches or hits too many foul balls (balls that do not land within play) they are out. A homerun is when a batter hits the ball so far no player could ever reach it. If they do hit it they have to run as fast as they can to run as many bases as possible. The other team at the same time tries to get the hit ball and deliver it to a base that the runner has yet to reach. If the runner runs into a base that has the ball, they are out. If they run all the bases and reach back to the home plate they have successfully scored one point for their team. If the batting side team has three players go out then the teams switch sides, the batting team then goes to pitching and the pitching side goes to batting.

On the pitching side the team has many more jobs. The pitcher who throws all the balls at the batter has to be sure he is throwing accurate shots. If the ball is pitched too inaccurately too three times the batting team gets a free base, where every member of the batting team advances one base. The pitcher also has to be sure to not hit the batter or the batting team gets a free base. If a batting team member is standing on a base and the next base is open they can try to steal the base. The pitcher has to be sure to be keeping guard to make sure this doesn't happen. Steals can be blocked by pitching to an open base. The rest of the pitching team is strategically placed all throughout the field so that they can quickly pick up hit balls and deliver them to team members that are guarding the bases.
