ENDLESS DAILY SONG DISCUSSIONS - Device Control (Intro) & At Your Best (You Are Love) (Cover)

-9/10 Not 10 because the album isn't perfect, and I don't expect it to be. Illmatic is my only 10. I like that endless is a "work in progress" such is life, and art. There are a couple of transitions that could be re-worked. Device Control while fitting, seems jarring on some listens. -I like how FO is allowing us to watch this process akin to music making, such precision that goes into it, as well as patience, and pondering, and then there are the long spells of seemingly nothingness, but it's all music anyways, and it's all very necessary (the process of building something), even the cleaning up after one's self. -production is so raw, yet polished with thought. like you can tell that every sound you here is without accident. it has this seemingly "lo-fi" quality that reminds me of old indie cd's I used to listen to heavily. Some of the sounds are so guttural that it awakens a softness of the heart. There's almost a spiritual element to it. At certain parts it sounds like prayers I've heard in religions (buddhist, islam). I also get the sense that this is a stream of consciousness. Like this is what it's like to be inside of Frank's head. These are his narratives. None of it feels made up to me, though he's deep in the art/craft of storytelling. The first time I really listened to it was on an 8 hour drive, and I remember feeling rinsed, cleansed after it. In a word, it's just dope. -Favorite line: tough one, b/c if music sequences were lines then I'd have to pick "in here somewhere" that transitions into Slide On Me. But in words, it'd have to be in Rushes To--he says, "what you show, what you give my bars can't hold..on the backs of Gods." Something like that anyways. Then in Slide on Me, it'd be the music segue into "This is for when you change your mind..this is for when step backs won't let that much fade.." Basically that whole stanza.
