I have poured hours into both on the Switch. Overall, Minecraft is a sandbox, building game that has RPG elements and Terraria is an RPG that has sandbox building elements in it. As someone who played Minecraft before Terraria, I'd also say Terraria's learning curve was kinda steep for me in comparison. I'd recommend it at this price though!

With Terraria, patience is key because you die a lot early in the game. I'm also constantly on the official Terraria wiki because there are so many layers to the game. Controls on the Switch are okay. You have to be a bit precise at times, but you'll get used to it after awhile. Touch controls help a lot when managing inventory.
