A really, REALLY good friend of mine cockblocked himself, for me.

There was a girl we both liked, I'll call her Destiny, and my friend Draco. I like those names.

Destiny was ridiculously hot and always seemed super down to Earth, this was Freshmen year of high school. For some reason she started talking to me a lot, sitting with me at lunch, calling me at home, talking for hours. Draco wasn't even mad, actually he was happy for me. See, Draco never had a problem getting chicks and was pretty much always trying to get me a girlfriend, and it virtually never happened, so when I started talking to this girl on my own, he was just like "fuck yeah /u/CDC_ that's what's up." I was pretty damn sure she liked me.

One day I'm hanging out with Draco and Draco is like "dude, are you gonna ask her out or what?" I was a fucking Nervous Nelly, though and I did not do well with asking girls out. In fact the last girl I asked out I am now married to, mostly because I love her more than life itself, but at least partially because I never want to deal with the stress of asking another girl out. No way, not for me.

Anyway, Draco does the unthinkable, he says he's going to call her and talk to her about me and her "hooking up" (the words he used to describe being boyfriend and girlfriend, not just boning).

So he talks to her and I'm in the other bedroom (landline) listening in, he starts talking to her, and it becomes apparent that in fact she didn't like me, and was just befriending me because she wanted to get to know him better, and before I could even really react SHE starts asking HIM out. To which he responds "Pfft, yeah sure, date you for about a week or two and drop you like I do everyone else. You fucked up, /u/CDC_ would have treated you right. Forget my name." And then hung up.

Known Draco since we were literally 3 years old, we're both 30 now, he's still the best guy I know.
