Krystal ever so marginally changed between Adventures to Assault and for reasons that actually made sense, reasons we SAW ON SCREEN. She joined the StarFox team and actually got to play a role in Assault, and got to have newly established motivations as a character while still calling back to Adventures given her dialogue surrounding mission 6.

Command was a blatant The Last Mccloud character assassination to destroy her character. Her fiery attitude toward villainy? Gone, hell she was willing to betray her friends to ensure Fox fails and StarWolf succeeds. Kind nature? She was infamous in Command for a "bitchy personality" uniting her fans and detractors in the worst way possible. Altruistic motivations? Fuck that, she just wants to get back at Fox and justify a genocidal maniac's actions over a bullshit invention on Titania. The only thing that carried from Assault to Command was her romantic affiliations for Fox, only it was changed to the "scorned woman" stereotype. They stripped her down and turned her into exactly what her detractors rip on her for. That's her legacy as a StarFox character. You can't seriously expect Krystal's fans to set well with that.
