The "Evil" Plan Has Succeeded: the Younger Generation Wants Electric Cars

It's a major city in upstate NY. Of course I have parks that are closer, but if I take a short drive I can go to one I've never been to before. Of course I have a dozen cramped indoor paintball places, but everyone knows it's more fun to play in the woods. My city has three malls, two concert arenas, a handful of smaller venues, two lakes, miles of waterfront, two universities and one CC... It's not like I live in the sticks.

We also have a grand total of six places to charge your EV besides your own garage. (One of those places is the mall and the plugs are in the front row. The signs say EV's only but the ICE cars park there anyways to save time.) There is one in the country town 30 miles west, which is impressive. But to the east, the closest ones are in the next major city over, 125 miles away.

I don't live in a bad area. The only people who would think that would be people who drive EV's, because EV's require so much extra support along the way, and the east coast doesn't have that support structure yet.

Dude, I'm sure EV's will get there. Soon they'll have ranges that rival ICE cars, and then they'll have EV sports cars and motorcycles, and then I'll be applying for another loan. I want them to do well. But I could never recommend anyone buy a car that can only do 110 miles per five hour charge. Even if you don't do much driving, that car is going to let you down at least once. Literally the last time I went out of town, I got there and shortly got a call saying one of my family was being rushed to the hospital. I had to turn around and without even stopping to fill up, I did 125 miles as fast as I could so that I could be there to say goodbye. Again, shit like that is the whole reason I have my own car. Not to commute, but so that I can get to what's important, on my time, easily. In moments like that, whatever car gets you from A to B is the best car in the world. Any car that fails in that crucial moment, might as well be scrap metal.
