It really depends on the dog. This is a bit unfair. My dog wouldn't even let me pet her for months. Yes. You heard that right. Months. She would immediately go psycho attacking my hands, no matter how many time-outs, redirections, positive reinforcement, etc, I tried on her. It took her about 5 months to actually be tolerable to exist around.

I do think part of this is she was somewhat feral and hadn't actually been handled by the breeders at all. But still. I've raised three puppies in my lifetime. Two? Normal. I understand what you mean -- yeah, it's not that hard. But the other one? My god.

Not all dogs are the same. I think OP is mostly struggling because of her bf here and not the dog, anyway.
