Google CEO Sundar Pichai warns society to brace for impact of A.I. acceleration, says ‘it’s not for a company to decide’

Carpenter here:

AI/robots will soon be able to do a bunch of the back-end work on NEW CONSTRUCTION, like frame pre-fab walls with integrated electrical, plumbing etc. Will be able to draw plans and blueprints better than noone else.

Renovations are another animal though. I just got back from putting up some hand rails, replacing a sump pump, switch the washer supply lines and install smoke detectors in a house thats getting rented out. It will be A LONG TIME before AI can do these kinds of jobs where you to think AND act at the same time and where a lot of the work is "opinionated" not straight forward (eg. where to put the brackets for hand rail etc.)
