never seen anomie talked about in non marxist context fwiw, most of blame for it would probably be directed at developments in modernization, capitalism, mass culture that happened in 1800s. pretty much normally used as the human reaction to what marxist alienation (if i recall correctly) so yeah just saying its pretty much entirely a marxist term as far as i know. I like marxist critique, critical theory, etc. and what not. all very clever, thought provoking stuff.

"cultural marxism" is a total meme btw. i think ive seen some ppl on the right use it as catch all term for leftist cultural critique, which then gets conflated w/ SJWs, political correctness, snowflakes, etc. all very unfortunate. its gotten jumbled around a lot, but the OG cultural marxism theory from the 20th century basically said that the frankfurt school and critical theory was a jewish scheme to overthrow western civilization. thats complete bunk, but like you would have a very hard time saying that Marx, the frankfurt school, etc. was PC or social justice-y. the frankfurt school (in very reductive terms) was all about understanding ideology and other elements of capitalism / modernity that they though enslaved ppl. would be unpopular to say here but a lot of stuff Sam / MDE criticize abt contemporary culture and the way they do it has roots in critical theory: like sam's point abt how ppl have fucked up view from like TV and popular culture that they need to be special and need to be artists is not that hard to link to critical theory. Idk, unless you're like full christian fundamentalist neo-con or like someone who earnestly goes on the daily stormer everyday, you shouldnt fall for cultural marxism and think all of these guys are everything you hate. you should check it out. most people who read and enjoy this stuff, and most people who write critical theory nowadays dont want a marxist revolution or dont think one is possible. i think most ppl on here would find stuff to enjoy in it.

Sorry for the long, overblown, pretentious post. also sorry if there are any real theory-heads in here who want to correct me. most of my reading has been for fun, not doing like a college degree in this stuff. i just dont think it should be dismissed so quickly tho.
