Franks the future?

I don't have an inside scoop. I do, however, have the power of copy and paste.

He’s currently the best athlete in Florida’s quarterback room. Franks is a competitive, hard-working kid that has quickly earned the respect of his teammates.

Reviews out of practice have been decidedly mixed, but Franks has the stature (6-6) and arm to develop into a star. He was rated the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2015 en route to being named an Army All-American. He had a plethora of offers, including from LSU, Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and Texas.

“I feel a lot more confident,” Franks said. “One of the biggest things for me is just building up that confidence in my throws and everything that I do. For me specifically, it was learning how to watch film, how to prepare for practice and just have the right mind set going into it.”

“I think he’s got it all,” Cleveland said. “When he gets his shot, he’s going to run with it. I got faith in Feleipe.”

“Here’s what I like about the guy, he was a three-sport athlete (in high school),” McElwain said. “He wasn’t one of these guys that was groomed in all of that stuff they do now year round. He competed every time a season rolled around. Yet, with that, there’s some things that he needs to continue to work on. That’s why I would say probably his ceiling is pretty high.”

“Controlling his mistakes,” Fulwood said when asked how Franks has improved. “When you come in at first, you want to just make big plays all the time. But he realized every throw doesn’t have to be an 80-yard bomb. “He started making the right reads and started making less mistakes, and that was when you could see he was really improving as a quarterback.” McElwain has seen it as well, which is why Franks earned the backup job. And if his number is called on, McElwain has confidence in the 6-foot-6 gunslinger.

“I think his upside is huge,” McElwain said. “He’s more comfortable verbage wise. Obviously has a heck of an arm and sometimes that arm gets him in trouble. He tries to force it sometimes, right? But he can get away with it sometimes, too.”
