Eh, the major piece that made this connection "click" for me was how Marcy's subplot in True Colors feels a lot like meta commentary on people who rely too much on escaping into books and fantasy which is also something that the creator of Evangelion has repeatedly talked about as a major part of that show.

The Owl House is deconstructive of fantasy tropes in general, but so far Luz's love of fantasy usually just motivates her to works harder in the end. Compare this with Marcy who starts out that way but eventually her love of fantasy turns into a character flaw that directly led to her downfall. Most of the things on this meme are pretty stretch comparisons, but that one is the glue that I feel holds it together.

But this is supposed to be just a dumb meme, not complex literary analysis.
