As a player who played the original games and anomaly for a while, the gamma mod pack adds significant hardcore elements to the game which i feel will filter out the "casual" type of players who eventually get bored of the game or just isnt for them. What you get left after a month or so like most trends is the portion of dedicated players (whether u played the original game or not) much like the "old guard" as I myself was once a new player I too have asked some dumb questions out of impatience and wanting to play. My point is to say the influx of new players will eventually even out and you will be able to download mods again t reasonable speeds :)
