If I remember right both CoC and Anomaly have story mode you can enable when creating a new character. But just so you know this story is nowhere near as long or detailed as the original games. Beyond that... Hate to break it to you but yes. You just wander the zone and kill, loot and do jobs. I haven't played much CoC but Anomaly has achievements. Another thing is raising goodwill for factions until they consider you a friend. This unlocks special items at their trader. If you want fun, limit yourself. Play by rules or create a real character and role-play. I always limit the amount of ammo and stuff I can carry etc. Because I'm an expert at these games I only wear at most a SEVA suit. Never any exos, never OP weapons etc.
