Giant Gyro Update to MW2

Wow, calm down and don't misinterpret my words. First off, I'm a huge gyro supporter and I use it in every single game I can. By saying "it's dead in the water" I am just stating the facts as to how it has been perceived in the COD community already. I haven't seen or heard of a single person "converted" from aim assist. Moreover, the gyro is looked down upon in COD. Again, don't get triggered, I'm just stating a fact, I am not happy with it, but it's just the way it is.

The amount of people who want gyro is massive

Trust me I'd wish it was this way. But it's not. It is the perfect representation of The Law of Small Numbers. We here at gyro gaming actively look for others who are also into gyro aiming, and when we seen a few people here and there, on Reddit/YouTube/Twitter, we start thinking "Oh there are tens of thousands of us who want gyro". However the truth is the overwhelming majority of gamers, like more than 95% are not aware of gyro and are not interested in it, and are completely fine with sticks and their clunky way of aiming.

AA will gradually kill itself off from the sheer embarrassment of the crutch

Now look, you're just stating your dream. Trust me, it is my dream too. I'd wish Aim assist died completely and console FPS games actually started rewarding skill. But it's not going to happen. AA is insanely ingrained in millions of people gaming habit. It's simply impossible to "convert" the overwhelming majority of players. AA is also an incredibly profitable tool from business standpoint which drives beginners to FPS games and lets them enjoy them, to then spend money on the game. If COD got rid of AA, they would lose millions of money and players.

So, to sum it up, like the previous guy said, gyro is mainly for enthusiasts and self validation. Especially in such arcade games like COD. What I'm saying, is that we should realise this and not be naive in trying to persuade others that gyro is better that their beloved auto-aiming. People only get mad at gyro advocates, from what I've seen. Yes, it's an embarrassing crutch, but I believe it's too late to change that. Instead we probably should just politely reach to developers so they start considering our community and support the feature. Now, gyro surely can thrive in some individual games like Splatoon where it was forced by Nintendo and people learned. But already established franchises are just not going to drastically change their way of aiming, it will piss players off.

So, as unfortunate as it is, gyro is probably going to stay niche for a long time. But the good news, is that it doesn't mean we won't get gyro support, because now the devs are becoming more aware about gyro community, and the feature slowly makes its way to more games.
