What do you text about? Do you ever hang out outside of class, even to study? If you only text about class or school related stuff, then they probably just see you as a classmate. If you never hang out outside of class, then ditto. If you study together sometimes, then you can try and broach the subject of possibly doing something else together next quarter. Like see what they're interested in, and just kind of float the idea of doing something and see how they react. If it's an enthusiastic yes, then they probably want to hang out (still might just see you as a friend though). If it's a maybe, then I'd drop it. I would not text them that you like them. If you don't communicate in person enough to tell it to their face, then I highly doubt they see you as anything more than a classmate.
