Beta blockers have a very short half life. I’d just say try one and see how it goes. Especially since it’s been prescribed for you so the professionals are obviously confident it’s safe for you. It will wear off soon enough if you don’t like it. But if you do stick with it, expect to feel a little crap for the first two weeks as you adjust to it. After that you should feel fine again.

As for your heart rate dropping too low. My heart rate is 46 right now as I type this. A low heart rate isn’t a worry as long as you’re not symptomatic. In the seriously unlikely event that you pass out that’s when you worry. But if it’s just low, there’s nothing to really be concerned about.
