Gov. Gretchen Whitmer extends Michigan's state of emergency through Oct. 1

I don't get this line of thinking, but I also work in retail face to face while having to handle people's phones or tablets and can not socially distance in my line of work so I'm pretty numb to this now. It is possible to actually socially distance in a gym, there's hardly any reason to be right up on people. It is up to the individual on remaining sanitary during their visit, the business also shares responsibility but let's be real it's always up to YOU to ensure your own comfort/safety. I spray alcohol on my hands before and after assisting people or touching money, it's just not that hard. Also, it's been 6 months. You can not keep things shut down forever, Michigan is fairing much better than other states, and generally people are pretty respectful of rules that obtain to each business. I will say that at gyms that have been open there are alcohol wipes everywhere, hand sanitizer everywhere, and majority of people wear their masks the entire duration they're there. If they aren't, the business can refuse service or ask them to leave. The only gyms by me that are still closed are Planet Fitness and Liftetime (their outdoor pools have been open and packed). So, I guess I'm just confused by everyone who is like wHy ArE gYmS OpEnInG when in reality they've been open for like the last 2-3 months now besides a few.

People are going to do whatever they want regardless of how anyone feels. I feel like at this point it's up to the individual and how they assess their own risk levels in each environment.
