Very strange behavior on my system in linux under proton

3070ti, 1080p, and for some reason i can screw around with graphics settings a bit and it to work fine, but no real explanation as to what fixed it. if i maximize the window then it goes to like 15fps, but if i set it back to windowed, then turn the "overall" setting to low, and set it to 720p, then its at 144fps, then if i turn up all the graphic settings (EXCEPT the overall setting) individually, its still running well at 144fps and then i can change the resolution back to 1080p and it runs still fine?

wtf... its like if i randomly do crap in the settings i can kill the fps, or bring it back, and as long as i leave it- it runs fine lol
