My son wants to know what this "rock" is made of. I assumed it was glass, but he just showed me that it's magnetic, so now I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Fair enough. That probably sounds extreme.

I just don’t like the people going around planting random different rocks/crystals/minerals on hiking trails and out in the wilderness where they didn’t originate. It’s a controversial issue in the hiking community in SoCal.

I sometimes find aura covered crystals, polished stones like OP’s, and rocks painted in bright colors with things like “live laugh love” or “Jesus loves you”. I consider that littering so I pack em out and throw em in the garbage. They’re never something as cool as OP’s and even if they were, they don’t occur naturally there.

You wouldn’t plant an exotic plant in a national park and you shouldn’t plant exotic rocks. Leave no trace.
