Gun Proponents: Do you see our (outrageously) high gun-related homicide rates as a compromise for the ubiquity and love for guns in this country?

Because I am speaking about guns in a negative manner, I already know that this is going to get downvoted

You're not gonna get a qualitative conversation if you're being snarky about it, but I'll humor you anyways.

What do you think makes this the "shootiest" country in the developed world, so to speak?

There are multiple but in my opinion, the two main factors are the media, and the lack of mental health care facilities that we have here. It used to be very common for kids to just go to school with a .22 rifle or something. They'd just put them in their locker and take em home after school, with no issues what so ever. It would also not be uncommon for schools to have a target shooting team. However over time, gun education became lacking and with technological advances, the media were able to influence the masses more than ever. An example would be the columbine shooting. When you have 24hr news stations with political biases trying to stir up the pot where ever they can to increase their ratings, they will make a big deal out of anything. Constant coverage, in dept look, and even 3D models of the areas, you name it. However, all this does is instill fear and encourage the more derange and psychotic people to do this as well. They're creating martyrs and anti-heroes for the psychos out there, who will be encouraged to go out and do the same. This is especially true with terrorist attacks. They WANT all this publicity, They WANT to be heard and seen. It's one of the ways they can spread their propaganda for free.

What can be done about it?

A substantial number of Americans have already decidedly chosen that the 2nd amendment will not be infringed upon; more than enough to prevent any appeals that may be proposed in the near future. It's already near impossible to add of void any amendments to the constitution led alone one of the originals of the Bill of Rights. If banning guns is an impossibility, then the most logical thing then is to educate people about them (This doesn't necessarily mean teaching people how to shoot). Another thing to do is to give the mental health sector a reboot and get it the funding it needs. If there are murderous people running about who can be ANYONE around me, then I would prefer to be able to protect me. If These people are in medical facilities being treated, then I would definitely feel less of as need to have a gun at all. The third thing to do is be less trusting of all news sources. I'm not saying that we should completely ignore the media, but to take in a diverse group of sources and then form your own opinions from it rather accept the one that's been crammed down our throats. For example, Guns do save lives all the time, but news sources like CNN would never report something like that. Instead, they'll only show you that guns do nothing but kill. This serves to cause hysteria and sensationalism, which is again, exactly what terrorists want.

Do you oppose regulations on firearms, or even speaking about imposing new regulations like many of our (Republican) congressman tend to do?

I'm absolutely for some sort of system for regulating guns, but so far, neither side of the political spectrum have came up with anything sensible led alone agree on anything at all. It's seems as if the word compromise doesn't exist between the party lines anymore.

What about after major mass shootings?

Passing legislation with a mind clouded with hysteria will result in things like the patriot act all over again.
