The comments I've made in this thread made me think a lot about the perspective myself and others have here in Raleigh.

I haven't seen any top level comments here that are pro anti-racism, just complaining. Almost nobody in this thread has said anything about Black lives, and everything about their own selfish convenience. This is called tone-policing, when White people say that the manner in which Black people say something invalidates their message. Here that is, invalidates the movement's message.

Your arguments are against what is basically the I-40 status quo in Raleigh every day of the year. Every morning and evening traffic is backed up from 293 to 284 (at least before COVID-19). Hollow arguments to prop up your gas-pedal frustration of having to be stopped for a few minutes, sitting in a comfortable car with air conditioning, while blacks are dying across the country at significant rates. I don't condone what these protesters did. I have no idea how many there were or what their plans were, and didn't see the entire thing go down. But I don't necessarily think that the fight for equality and black lives isn't worth this. Our Black neighbors have been brutalized by our society for the past 400 years. Time and again, there has not been enough civil unrest to change the status quo. We make a little progress, and then it trickles down to no progress for another generation as everyone says "glad that's over with".

I see a lot of you need to educate yourselves on what Black citizens are actually facing in this country, historically. It's not just about police. I hope you do.
