Hermann Göring committed suicide in prison by ingesting cyanide. How was he able to get access to cyanide while in prison?

I know I am deviating from the general policy but I feel in regards to your post that it is important to counter your statement that being off or opiates would make one more capable of being charming, persuasive, or convincing.

While I lack the background to produce sources to back my claim up, I also don't want to try and hold my position up on personal experience alone when nobody reading this knows me personally or has any means of verification available to them. Instead I will simply recommend that anyone interested in getting to the heart of this debate simply spend some time looking at the testimonies found in organizations that specialize in helping the family members of addicts . The perfectly told lies, ridiculously complex scheming, and utterly charming delivery are traits near universal in any addict trying to get off empty. Perhaps Goering simply changed his focus from one goal to another upon reaching sobriety, using the same methods but aiming at a different target. Perhaps he was using skills so long ingrained that sick or sober they were second nature to him. One thing I can say with near certainty though is that his ability to lie and manipulate others was not improved by getting clean.
