I’ve made a couple of these courses. Got paid $4k for design. Then a “facilitator” basically directs the show each semester, grading assignments helping with content; they make about $3500 a semester. After so many students join-like 35-another facilitator gets added but doesn’t make as much as the first - the “instructor of record”. After like 115 students the first facilitator only manages other facilitators doesn’t deal with students except to resolve disputes. I am in every lecture video and made every assignment but haven’t been hands on involved with the course for several years. The weird thing is those facilitators make significantly more than an in person adjunct who has to come up with original material several days a week.
