Cgeo is the best geocaching app, but it has awful UI. They literally just "improved" the UI a few days ago, so now things are moved from where I'm used to them. It's worth figuring out, however.
First I'd log in and select geocaching.com, like others have mentioned.
When you open the map, click "live map." This should show all geocaches. Zoom in to your area, if you're too far out it will not work and try to load a million caches, if too close there won't be anything.
If still having troubles in live map, you likely now have a filter on. Clicking here,
Should fix it. So filte, delete/trash filter, check mark.
The map should now work.
There are also unexpectedly large areas with no caches, so zoom out little by little, and one or more should quickly appear.
