How does concealed carry deter crime?

I live right on the border of Austin. If you aren't familiar with chi neighborhoods, Austin is top 3 for homicides. Shit my store was attempted robbery and one of these fuckers stuck a gun right in my face. I got very lucky. These shooters don't care if you're armed. They shoot you for anyreason. Attempt to drive away from an attempted carjacking? They'll shoot at you. Walking down the street and running from a potential mugging? They'll shoot at you The worst part about it is the shooters can't aim for shit and they're hitting more kids than anything else. I think this weekends report was 14 kids shot amongst all the other shootings. It's just getting worse and it's such a complicated issue that stems from sociological disadvantages to an incompetent state justice system. I'm getting my CCL this weekend. Had the gun, holster and other gear for awhile to practice around the house. Never leaving again without it once that card comes. I feel defenseless when I leave the house cause every single one of these gangbangers is carrying illegally.
