How does one ignore the style errors of the novel?

My intro to it was via Untamed. I had randomly turned on this show on Netflix looking for something like Crouching Tiger but then was immediately surprised at what looked like a gay romance. I looked it up and then read the novel alongside watching the rest of the series (ep 11/13-50).

That helped me replace the over-the-top-ness of the characters with the stylistic choices of the actors in the show as well as reimagine Wangxian differently. So now I have my own version of their first kiss etc.

At the same time, reading the novel alongside helped me ignore the shoddy screen adaptation/writing for the show.

I do appreciate the novel the most out of the various forms of media but for its overall story, themes, the stark portrayal of the world even when moulded to Wuxia as also the complete tragedy that it is.
