I have hurricane shutters do I evacuate?

Good luck.

It was a big pain in my butt to evacuate for Bertha, Bonnie, Fran, and Floyd. Sucked rebuilding the house.

Glad we weren't in it during Fran.

If you've been in Florida when Andrew blew through I suppose you have some idea of what to expect. I sure as shit wouldn't be staying around. I'd take my chances with the traffic if I were in an area near the predicted landfall area. I'd rather leave my neighborhood before high tide.

But it's a judgement call, I said that. You do you. I apologize that my words may have seemed disheartening. I am not sure that it would do much good to tell everyone it'll be fine and that if you can't leave that that's okay and everything will be a bit windy and wet before the sunshine and rainbows. For some it will be, sure.

Why can't you leave? Traffic? "Most" gas stations out of gas, but not all? I'm willing to wager that you probably will be able to get some time off work for this, no? Too many animals to fit in the car? Kid gets nauseous on road trips? Why can you do nothing? I am baffled by this statement.
