I think I have Chondromalacia, what’s the best way to take care of it?

I've had it since 2007 while I was playing rugby at a pretty high level. Took off from running and any leg training for around 4 months, and started taking over-the-counter joint supplementation - chondroitin, glucosamine, MSM, and collagen. In the end, the 4-month break was a bit excessive, but I was 20 years old and overly cautious. I started bodybuilding in 2012 and took up running in 2017 when I stopped. Immediately went into ultra running and have been managing my chondromalacia patella. It flares up every couple of years or so, which I simply decrease my running load, cycle a bit more, and slowly increase my running in the range I can handle.

Just to clarify, I am a sport scientist with a MSc in sport science specialising in trail running and biomechanics, and have been coaching trail runners professionally since 2018.
