If this game had mod support, what would your dream faction be?

Mass Effect! I've actually idly drawn up some concepts for a total conversion. One of the big things in ME is that the primary limit on ships in battle is heat buildup. So instead of a maneuver gauge that starts at 100% and goes down, you'd have a heat gauge that starts at zero and increases every time you do something, and you have to either disengage, wait, or use special abilities or cook your crew.

Pros *loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong range, good accuracy: ships in ME use linear accelerators to basically shoot metal cylinders at their targets. At 1.3% of lightspeed. That's fast enough to cross the whole map in under a second. Given computing technology in ME, "misses" are more about evasion and range than being inaccurate, so hitting something the size of WH40K ships would be like hitting the side of a barn door. *Point defenses: ships in ME use frickn' laser beams to shoot down missiles. Again, considering computing, it'd be pretty hard to miss. Hard to tell their exact rate of fire, but they're supposedly very good against missiles and fighters. *Torpedoes: basically like Tau homing missiles, incredible range. *Detection: they're used to identifying ships at much greater ranges in ME and firing just based on thermal signature. Considering how huge and thermally inefficient WH40K ships seem (except maybe Eldar, and possibly Tau), they'd probably radiate IR signatures like crazy. You'd be able to find and hit targets across the map. Cons *Tiny ships: ME Dreadnoughts are the same size as LCs. They could probably take like, five macro hits max. *Shields: ME-verse shields are gravitational, so they can't effect things like light beams. RIP against lances. *Probably some others that I can't think of.

I'd actually really love being able to mod the game into an ME space battle sim, but of course you'd need to do a lot of ahem calibrating if you wanted to balance ME ships against WH40K ships.
