If Hollywood didn't exist, do you think America would have been such a magnet for immigrants?

This first of all is a really interesting question. Kudos.

Now the answer to this is that the US actually still would be a magnet for immigrants. It's due to a simple reason, jobs. My parents immigrated from India to the United States in the early 90s, at this time Hollywood simply wasn't as widespread in India as it is today. They immigrated due getting opportunities in the US. Now, India has changed a lot since then especially after the fall of the license raj and adoption of freer markets with reducing socialism. Today, Indian metropolitan areas have significantly better fundamentals (in the economy and jobs) and this is probably why you may be asking this question.
