I get this question a lot, its somewhat of a joke on the frontier. We say that the greatest thing Wu created was human religion, it's ridiculous premises have provided us with more converts than any wonder of nature!

Waa emphasises the one-ness of God. I was Christian by birth, as I wasn't actually born on the frontier, and looking back on it I find it hard to believe that I genuinely imagined a big infinitely powerful bearded man was looking over me at all times. Instead, Waa tells us that God, or Wu, is an infinite and non-interventionist entity. Wu is in the spiral of the galaxy and the complex arrangement of DNA in a cell. We believe that Wu set the entire universe into motion 14 billion years ago by sacrificing itself to become the known universe.

As such, Wu does not have any control over the direction of the universe. However, when Wu set the universe into motion, everything was already predetermined. The minute the first two particles began to drift in a certain direction, your name, address and the date of your death were determined. We believe that the universe is a complex chain of events; like a huge rube-goldberg machine in which we are but parts. Free-will, to the Waa, is not the ability to influence the universe, but the ability to establish enough rational understanding of events to be able to piece together reasons for what happens to us, and provide rationale for why we do things.

Waa also places a lot of influence on monasticism, and our huge cathedrals, or Sh'avahin in isolated places around the galaxy often inspire great wonder in those lucky enough to see them. Most Hwaani are encouraged to spend some time in a Sh'avahin, and though the isolation scares some first timers, I think you'd find that should you embark on this journey you'd find yourself awed by the beauty and splendour of both our great structures and the nature usually woven into them.
