Our tortie is an absolute asshole. She is smart and independent. So….she goes on the countertop to get our attention because she knows we don’t want her there. If that doesn’t get our attention, she will start nudging something on the countertop inch by inch toward the edge because she knows that will definitely get our attention. She mostly scratches one of her many scratching posts….unless we are watching TV….and then she will scratch the furniture….to get our attention. With that said, she will never ever sit on anyone’s lap. She will, however, snuggle right up next to you in bed…..until about 4:30 in the morning, at which point she demands that you get up and pay attention to her. If you don’t, she begins knocking things off the dresser until you wake up. There are times I wonder why we spend the money on cat food and litter….but then she does something cute and I tell her she can stay — on probation of course.
