Indi’s MLP exploration, detour - Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks

Hey There Indi, I know I am a bit late for this thread, but I just wanted to say to a few things since I assume this is your last cannonical exploration of the FiM world (unless you are going to share your opinion on season five episodes too, wich would be great, but then we would be playing in the same field).

I will try to not make you waste much of your time. My name is Aro, and I am from Spain. I know I never commented in any of your previous posts, but believe me, I truly liked them. In fact, I used to be really hyped about your next post and it was really interesting to see you share your thoughts on the series. I was dissapointed with myself when I missed your last post about the fourth season because I wanted to tell you that it was one of the most interestings topics that I have seen in this subreddit.

I have never commented in your posts before because I did not feel that my level with the language was good enough, and now I really regret it. I just wanted you to know that I really admire your trajectory in this subreddit, and I am glad you came here in the first place. I am really going to miss your work here, but I am looking forward to see what does the future hold for your content.

That is basically all, I just wanted to tell you that you are awesome. An outsider coming to us with an open mind, sharing his opinion with everybody, creating an amazing content and eventually becoming an essential part of /r/mylittlepony. Yes, it really was great. You are a great man, Indi, yes you are.

Now, begging your pardon for being late, now I will answer your questions, because if I do not do it, I will always regret it.

Did you feel like Sunset’s arc didn’t develop well enough?

That is a difficult question for me. I really liked Sunset Shimmer in this movie. I haven't watch it since it first came out, but if I remember correctly, there were not major problems with her arc, narratively speaking. She had a lot of time in the spotlight, her conflict was presented correctly and was reminiscent from the first movie, wich was awesome for the continuity of the character. The only major problem that I remember was, as you say, that scene with the characters trapped under the stage, wich was kind of stupid (what was that trapdoor for again?) But yes, I was happy with Sunset's arc in the movie. It was refreshing to see a major conflict wich was not around Twilight for once. I liked the "you are never gonna break me down" moment (even tough I do not understand yet why now the human six can use magic by herself now. Was not the point of the elements to simbolize the magic of frienship? And what was that scene with only Rainbow getting her ponified version again? Bah, whatever), and I found the letter detail at the end really cute too; but I specially loved the scene in the kitchen. There, Sunset and Twilight showed a great chemistry, I really loved that moment from beggining to end.

Was visiting Equestria in the middle a good decision? Did you feel sad returning to Canterlot High?

Indeed it was. In Rainbow Rocks, the plot managed to keep me interested with the human characters only, and I almost did not remember that Equestria should be visited at some point. So no, I did not feel sad when Twilight crossed the portal either, I wanted to see where the plot was going, and the Equestria fragment was not that interesting. Again, much better than Equestria Girls. There, that moment when Twilight looked at the mirror and saw her pony version made me see that there was no way I was going to like that movie.

What did you think about the Rainbooms' recovery as locked under the stage? Impressive? Bland?

Oops. Already answered, sort of. I do not remember exactly the scene, but I think it was the worst in the movie. Why the trapdoor? Why the argument that came from nowhere? Why the green smoke even though the Dazzlings were not singing? At least Sunset saved the day insted of Twilight again. And the gag of Vinyl was funny.

Did you enjoy the music?

Yes, I really did. Maybe the best of the movie, in my honest opinion, but the characters were decent, the humour was great and I found the story entertaining even with the plot holes. Good movie, yes. But the music was outstanding. Under our spell, Welcome to the Show and Shine like rainbows are my favourite tracks.

So that is it. Sorry for being unable to keep it short, It happens me all the time.

So again, Indie, congratulations for your posts, I hope to see you around for a long time.

Gracias.
