What the hell is happening in NZ? An expat asks…

The NZ media is pretty limited in data shared and is quite firmly controlled by Jacinda. One of the things that has really been shown clearly worldwide is how and where (if anywhere) people get their news and data from to form opinions. Kiwis are generally used to chowing down on whatever is served up in the media, hence Jacinda's continued popularity. That's why stronger governments (China etc) are doing better. One source of truth, no option to choose whether to partake or not. You just have to. Importantly, a sizeable part of the population in NZ are entirely disconnected from making a data based decision. Many now think tiktok and Facebook (non scientific) etc are valid sources. People don't critique the sources because they haven't been taught to. Jacinda is also playing the race card, we started getting Maori and Pacific islanders as seperate statistics. So there's fairly open segregation happening, and grouping of people by race rather than acknowledging that people are people. And the virus doesn't care for your race, it's wants you to host it. We don't hear if the commonality of the covid cases in the UK, and the deaths and suffering. We're ignorant to the reality of others overseas, but conversely the government are so risk intolerant they are/have lost the trust of the general populace.
