Issues with trying to move date due to COVID making you worried about venue going forward?

There are a lot of bad things going on in this world that are far far worse than cancelled/postponed weddings... that being said we actually cancelled our venue because of how awful they were. I feel so guilty being so upset when so many truly terrible things are happening in the world.

We were supposed to get married September 2020 and they wouldn’t allow us to change dates unless the day was within 90 days of original. Of course this only left weekdays like Tuesday.

They wanted to charge us $5k and 2021 rates for moving to September 2021. I fully recognize that worse things are happening than us wedding couples having do deal with this, but I can’t help the feeling of being taken advantage of like this. It’s awful.

And what’s so crazy is that our venue is a hugely popular place on the Hudson River. They are a legit cash cow in the wedding scene here. If mom and pop flower shops don’t have the heart to charge brides for flower arrangements they made and are taking hits in the thousands that they certainly can’t afford I truly don’t get how these money hungry venues are getting away with this.

Couples who are paying tens of thousands for weddings are being forced to choose between awful options (awful weekday dates or paying loads more to postpone).
