Italy has edged closer to fascism with a startling attack on academic freedom

Is it biased to call cat a cat? Political neutrality should not extend to ignoring logic or facts.

If Lega Nord has the traits A,B,C,... that match Italian fascism and has traits X,Y,Z... that match most definitions of xenophobia, and this is argued by politics/history experts, then this is not a mere political opinion. This is political conclusion based on interpretation of facts.

Now, let's say for the sake of the argument that neutrality should extend that far as to say nothing bad about the government. But Salvini is not asking for mere neutrality, he is stating that academy must be loyal to the government (read: ruling party). "A cat" sounds inconvenient, the textbook must call him a lion.

That's pretty much in the same direction as critique-allergic Putinist bureaucrats. And that's how you slowly turn academicians into political prostitutes, which is not the good kind of "neutrality" at all.
