just gonna leave this here…

I mean… I still disagree with you on this one. Walking through snow can be dangerous, even packed down snow. Especially packed-down snow when it’s icy out. This is an extremely low-wage job that people are working. I’m not expecting anyone to walk through snow (that I can help, on my property or sidewalk) to deliver to me. I do think that’s unreasonable.

That person might not have winter-appropriate shoes (yes, you can find winter boots at goodwill, but believe me, they’re not usually all that good!! Coming from someone who did this at least once a year til I could afford new/decent snow boots).

Good on you for going above and beyond but shitty of that customer for expecting a low wage employee to go out of their way and put themselves potentially in danger (also I’m in upstate NY, I know how it gets here) to deliver something they weren’t willing to go get themselves. That’s just unfair.

Lastly - what happens if, in the icy conditions you mention, the dasher did go up the stairs in the best footwear poverty might afford, and they slipped and fell and broke something!? I don’t know who’s paying for those medical bills but it damn sure ain’t the customer asking for someone to deliver through packed-down snow rather than something they should have cleared before ever ordering delivery.
