Just got diagnosed with genital HSV 1 an hour ago (male, 20 years old - if that matters) and I have some questions about what this means for me moving forward and would appreciate any help I can get. Sorry I have a lot to say.

Yeah good for you, but like any virus, illness, disease, if you can avoid getting it then that would be ideal. And myself, someone who experienced some serious trauma from this diagnosis, I absolutely think people deserve the choice to engage with someone sexually if they have a virus. Similarly with a cold, id prefer knowing someone has a cold before I kiss them as I would like to avoid getting a cold if I can.

My issue is trauma. And being someone who had to spend the last year in therapy due to it and suicidal thoughts — I do believe that disclosing is important. Many factors go into my reasoning which I’ve already mentioned.

Your argument is in poor taste. Your facts are right, but your judgement is selfish.
