You just get to walk around and disappear randomly? Must be fucking nice!

I've worked at a lot of jobs in the past where people got away with taking 20 minute breaks, suddenly disappearing, and gathered in a group holding conversations. And some of these people were my supervisors.

At Walmart, this "practice" is nonexistent. You are checked up on when given a task. You have a deadline in which the task can be completed. The team leads ask how much longer it will take you to finish if they feel you aren't moving fast enough. There is none of this "Where is he?" How could he still be on break?" "He's just wandering around." You have to be accounted for at all times. There's simply no window to do that kind of thing.

As a matter of fact, we have cameras throughout the store and they have used them to bust people. One person was fired because he was seated on a "skateboard" (an OGP term) texting. Someone else was fired for something else that they observed.

Going back to my past jobs, I was certainly no stranger to being abandoned to carry the weight of the five other people in the department.
