Lance Stephenson with the dirty trip on Jeremy Lin

Sounds quaint but no one is really watching you. And you shouldnt need the promise of a fortunate afterlife to make you not bad things. It's called not being a shitty person. Harder than it sounds, but no belief in a babysitting deity required.

Maybe religion was useful to keep society in check during the beginnings of civilization, to keep the masses from doing horrible things that no one could stop them from doing. But over time a belief in an eternal afterlife only if you do good and pray isnt necessary. Like belief in a Santa Claus

The books collected in The Bible were written on by men claiming to be talked to by a powerful deity, or followers of a man thinking theyve witnessed a fulfilled prophesy by enacting said prophesy. Translated from and into multiple languages before being combined into the bible known today. You wonder what these "prophets" say they were told by the deity? 'Oh and that powerful deity that we all have to listen to its commands? He only talks to me. And oh yea, God is a he. Women-- cover your heads.' Or maybe the writers exaggerated or imbelished. Maybe they said it was fiction and no one knew the proper translation. Maybe they lied to control a population during a time where civilization was bleek and peoples needed something like organized religion to keep people from tearing each other's heads off. /rant
