LGBT “Friend” Donald Trump Will Meet with Hundreds of Anti-Gay Christian Leaders Today

First of all, as Christian who supports LGBT rights this article was extremely toxic towards Christianity as a whole. Most of the Christians I've encountered either a) are a-okay with LGBT, or b) view it as a sin but plan on focusing on spreading love and choose not to partake in legal choices involving taking away / giving LGBT rights. I think these are both valid choices. That being said...

If you vote for a Republican — even one who says all the right things about the issue, but whose Party platform requires opposition to marriage equality and anti-discrimination laws — you owe it to LGBT people everywhere to explain why their lives mean so little to you.

This is so annoying to me.

I'm not voting for Trump, he's an idiot. But I have seen so many LGBT people making these "If vote for ___ hate me" types of comments. It's very immature and frustrating. Like I mentioned, a lot of people don't have any ill-will towards LGBT citizens. They might prioritize other issues though, which could result in a voting for a person that doesn't approach LGBT in the best way. I see nothing wrong with this. Everybody has particular political areas they care deeply about - economics, foreign policy, the environment, women's rights, LGBT rights, etc. Just because someone values LGBT the most doesn't mean that they "care so little" about the environment, and vice versa.

Ideally we'd have a candidate that we agree with on every issue. But that's just ideally. This year is one of the worst elections I've seen and the epitome of choosing the lesser of two evils. I'm not voting for anyone, I'm voting against the other person. At the same time, the world doesn't center around you. If I (or someone else) votes for Candidate X because we think they have a great financial approach, but they happen to not have the best LGBT approach, it doesn't mean we're thinking "yeah! screw those LGBT people!"

This probably isn't a great sub to say this in but it's been bothering me for a while, so you guys are getting the I'm-fed-up rant version. I sincerely hope we continuing making strides in LGBT rights and treatment in the coming years, but I also hope that people stop acting like it's the only issue to vote about.
